Last week Ochy and I went shopping to an Indian store. One of the specific items on our wish list was Kappa (tapioca) and fish. Its been a while since we`ve had our due of Kappa and meen curry and its common knowledge that no self respecting mallu can deny himself / herself Kappa for too long!
We did eventually find Kappa- chopped and frozen as well as fish- Neymeen (King fish) and we headed back home to prepare a feast!
We had to make do with desiccated coconut powder and fish masala powder but some skilled cooking turned it out to be exactly as one would have it back home!
For once we actually dis have all other “authentic” ingredients such as green chillies, black mustard seeds and kodum puli .
With the food turning out to our satisfaction…..
…all that was left was to gobble it down!
…and this we did until we were stuffed!
Rosa has been a bit nervous about cycling in UK and the nearest places are often too far to walk to, so we got out the next day in freezing temperatures to try and get her used to it.
after a bit of work on an orphaned cycle which seemed the perfect height for her, we got it into a working state….
…and she was off!
We headed over to a local hill to do a bit of exploring, but the rains had turned the paths into slush. Here`s a little clip we caught on our way back:
On one of our over enthusiastic shopping trips to Sainsbury`s we ended up buying a bunch of bananas. Over the days it just sat in our kitchen giving off a ripening smell and begging to be eaten. Rosa finally decided to do something about it and set about turning it into a banana cake. Here`s a video of when it came out:
I`m not very fond of the flavour of banana but I must say it turned out great.
I`m looking forward to more cakes as Rosa begins her baking adventure!
…..and thus we get along in our little world. Until the next update here’s us signing off!
